Upcoming artist Matt Rhodes is from the Inland Empire in Southern California. Matt attended UC Irvine and later served in the Peace Corps for two years in Africa, where he learned a lot about dance, music and music. Matt started playing guitar back in 2007 but didn't take it seriously until 2016, when he got into recovery from drugs and alcohol. "Since then, music has been primarily my main form of therapy, besides photography and, obviously, meetings and recovery related things."
Matt Rhodes has released roughly 105 songs since 2020 and plans on releasing probably 200-500 more within the next 2-5 years. " I grew up listening to the likes of bone thugs n harmony, biggie smalls, q-tip, Pete rock and C.L. Smooth, CYNE, Nujabes, Nas, the Pharcyde, growing up, and also RnB influences like Tank, Tyrese, Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men, etc etc. I also have some influence in choral music and spent a few years just listening on my own to composers like Morten Lauridsen, Kim Andre Arneson, and Eric Whitacre. " Matt has a background playing guitar. " Heavy influences on artists like Justin King and bands like Dayseeker, Makari, ADTR, the list goes on. The past year I've been super heavy on Peep's music, and also lil skies, 6lack, lil tjay, and obviously more well known artists like Rick Ross, drake, weezy, Wiz, etc etc. Logic is also a heavy influence. I enjoyed acoustic alternative artists that would mix spoken word into their songs. I feel like that is a sort of branding I'm trying to get into, but more into the rap / hip hop world. My plan honestly is just to keep expressing myself through music. If I get paid for it, that's great. If not, that's fine too."
